The -300 was developed as a substitute for 747-100s and -200s respectively. If it is to compare with the older 747s, the lengthened 777 has comparable passenger capacity and range, and is developed to use around 30% less fuel
Since the introduction of the 777-300, there were a total of sixty -300s have been given to 8 airlines and all were in operation as of August 2008. This model doesnt have a direct Airbus counterpart but the A340-600 is being presented in competition.
