The first Airlines to order this aircraft were Delta Air Lines in replacement of its Lockheed L-1011 and Continental Airlines to replace its McDonnell Douglas DC-10. The initial flight took place in October of 1999 and started operation in September of 2000.
Other versions are 767-400ERX and Boeing 747X. The 767-400ER's counterpart from Airbus was the Airbus A330-300. This aircraft is considered a mid-size, wide-body twinjet airliner. Its passenger versions can accommodate 181 to 375 passengers. It has started operation in 1982. A total of 1,039 Boieng767s have been ordered of which 970 were delivered as of January of 2009. As of December of 2008, there were 862 Boeing767s being operated from 48 different airlines.
