Boeing 737-900 is the longest model as of now because it has the same exit configuration with -800.
Alaska Airlines was the first airline that used the 737-900 in the 1997. The delivery was made and accepted on 15 May of 2001. There are no announced orders that have not been delivered yet. One of its versions is the 737-900ER which was also referred as the 737-900X is the latest addition and the biggest model of the Boeing 737. Its counterpart with Airbus is the Airbus A321.
The first 737-900ER was launched on August of 2006. The first customer to order it was Lion Air. The aircraft was delivered to them on April of 2007.
