The Boeing 737 Classic referred to as the -300/-400/-500 model series of the Boeing 737 subsequent to the launched of the -600/700/800 series. They are considered American short to medium range, single aisle, narrow body jet airliners. The Classic series was announced as the new generation of the 737.

The sample model version of the -300 was introduced on January of 1984, and the initial flight took place on February 1984 and its certification was awarded on November of 1984. The first company to receive an order was USAir on November. It is a very popular aircraft with order totaled 252, a year after the introduction.
In December of 2008, Southwest Airlines chose Boeing to modify the 737-300 with a fresh set of instruments, hardware and software so that there will be improvement in the commonality between 2 airplane types so we could also support the Required Navigation Performance initiative.
