The Airbus A380 is a high capacity, long range, twin deck, wide body airliner type It started service in March of 2006, the A380 might be the world's largest airliner, simply beating Boeing's 747.
Airbus initially started studies on a very huge 500 seat airliner in the early 1990s. They saw making a competitor and descendant to the Boeing 747 as a strategy to end Boeing's domination of the huge airliner market.
The A380 is presented in passenger and freighter variations. The A380-800, which is the passenger model, is the largest passenger airliner in the world; however it has a shorter fuselage than the Airbus A340-600, which is Airbus's future biggest passenger aero plane.
