CFM International is a program of Snecma from France and GE Aviation from USA. The only objective of the program is to support the CFM56 series engines.

The terms CFM International and CFM56 respectively are resulting from the 2 mother companies’ which were GE’s CF6 and Snecma’s M5g respectively.

Main products were CFM International CFM56 (F108) and CFM International LEAP-X (under development) CFM is not an abbreviation, the terms CFM and product line CFM56came from GE’s CF6 and Snecma’s M56.

CFM maintains the CFM56 family of engines better than others by incorporating updated developed technology into the existing fleet. They are also preparing for tomorrow’s industry requirements with their advanced LEAP56 technology development program.
