Avionics is an acronym for "aviation electronics". It includes navigation and the display and management, electronic systems for use on aircraft, comprising communications, and artificial satellites and spacecraft, of multiple systems.

The name avionics was not widely use until the early 1970s which the term avionics was popularized

The cockpit of an airplane is a main area for avionic equipment which includes navigation, weather, and anti-collision systems, control, monitoring, and communication.

Most of aircrafts run their avionics having 14 or 28 volt Direct Current electrical systems but huge and more advanced aircraft like the airliners have Alternating Current systems which operates at 400 Hz.

There are some main vendors of flight avionics which includes Rockwell Collins, Honeywell, Thales Group, Narco Avionics, Avidyne Corporation, and Garmin.
